5th & 6th Class Information for Parents

Dear Parents of 5th & 6th Class Pupils,
We are pleased to inform you of some important educational projects and lessons your child will be participating in over the coming weeks and months.

The Friends for Life Program: A world leading programme for dealing with childhood anxiety and building coping skills to help young people manage worry both now and in later life. This will be delivered by Teacher Aoife and Teacher Caroline over the next 10 weeks. An information booklet for parents is available at the school by request. Relationships and Sexuality education: In line with school policy, a visiting speaker from Accord is booked to give a talk to your child on 3rd April 2017 on the Department of Education’s relationships and sexuality curricular content. This talk will be given in conjunction with the support lessons provided by Teacher Aoife and other relevant staff. Education about Religious Beliefs and Ethics: Within the Catholic ethos of Kilcoskan NS, we are pleased to have been invited by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment to participate in an educational project to teach our 5th and 6th class pupils some skills with which to investigate other religions and belief systems. This project will be lead by Teacher Aoife and Mr.Caulfield. The project starts after midterm break and will run until the summer.
