KNS Proclamation Day

Today was a special day in Kilcoskan NS - the day we formally commemorated the Easter Rising of 1916. First, mams and dads, grannies and grandads visited our Green Room to see all the super 1916 project work and then from about 11.45am the ceremony began.

Proceedings got underway with the tricolour being marched to the front of the school. Then our senior pupils read their "new" proclamation, stating their hopes for Ireland in the next 100 years. This was followed by a reading of the original 1916 Proclamation of Independence and Roy hoisting the Irish flag, which we had received last October during our Harvest Day celebrations. Then we sang some songs as Gaeilge, including of course Amhrán na bhFiann - and raffled lots of prizes including a lovely framed Proclamation. Thanks to all who came along to join in and support our ceremony - check out the photos and videos below.
