January news and information for parents

                                                                                                                8th January 2014
Dear Parents,
Now that we are all settled back to school after the recent holidays, the following is some information to keep you up to date with the goings on in Kilcoskan NS for the month ahead.
Best wishes,
Mr.Ciarán Caulfield, Principal

  • ·         Christmas concert a great success: thanks to all involved in making our recent Christmas concert such a great event. Well done to all and we hope you enjoyed it!
  • ·         Set down & pick up of pupils: Please keep the area at the front of the school / gateway free at ALL times. This needs to be kept clear for emergencies and for transport access for some of our pupils.  Please also drive very safely and slowly in the vicinity of the school.
  • ·         Reminder: we ask parents not to drop off pupils before 8.50am. The yard is supervised from this time. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • ·         Signing of school register: If pupils are dropped to school late or if they are being collected early parents must report to reception to sign out their child.  It is absolutely unacceptable for parents to disturb classes unannounced.
  • ·         Swimming: pupils from 1st to 6th class will have the opportunity to go swimming for about 6 weeks again this term. In order to establish how many pupils will be going etc. we will send an “expression of interest form” home next week.  The cost will depend on the number of pupils going and the more who go the lower the cost. Note that for children in our special classes, we will be in touch soon to finalize swimming arrangements.
  • ·         24 hour pupil personal accident insurance now available to insure your child in school and outside of school, up to 31st August 2014 for just €4 per child.
  • ·         If you happen to have any unwanted child sized bicycle helmets at home, we would be delighted if you would donate them to the school. Please drop them into reception.
  • ·         After Christmas people may have mobile phones to recycle. We are collecting mobile phones in Kilcoskan NS as part of the Irish Autism Action scheme and anybody who donates an old phone is in with a chance to have their household bills paid for a year.
  • ·         A case of CHICKEN POX has been diagnosed in our senior class.  Please note this and act accordingly if your child has any symptoms. See www.hse.ie for further information.
