Summer Trips and Tours

Despite the wet weather all of our pupils have headed off on their summer tours over the last 3 weeks. Infants up to 1st class headed to the zoo, 2nd class to 4th class headed to Dublinia and saw Men in Black 3D.

The big “Adventure Tour” was saved for our most senior pupils 5th and 6th class, who headed on an overnight trip to Inis Mór, the biggest of the Aran Islands!
The boys and girls met before 8am at the Coolquay Lodge and got the bus all the way to Rosaveel in Galway (with a short stop in KFC outside Galway on the way!) Then we took the Aran Ferry over the waves to dock on Inis Mór.  We went straight up to the hostel to book into our rooms and then had a few games of Swing Ball.  Then we took a bus tour of the island, stopping off for a (slightly wet!) hike up to the ancient cliff top fort of Dún Aonghas, where Cyril our tour guide told us lots of interesting facts about the island. We had our dinner in the American Bar and settled down to playing some cards for the rest of the evening.

Next morning we had a tasty of breakfast of sausages and after a little more Swing Ball we headed to the beach for some footy and paddling. Then it was back onto the boat for a pretty wavy crossing, followed by a trip to McDonald’s and the journey home.  It was a great trip and thanks to all who helped with organizing it!
